Georgetown McDonough Flex MBA Online

The 24-to-60-month Flex MBA Online program at Georgetown McDonough allows students to pursue an MBA from any location. Taught by the same faculty that teaches the in-person Flex MBA program, the Flex MBA Online program is made up of online classes as well as a week-long in-person residency in Washington D.C. to start off each academic year. Additionally, at the end of the second year in the program, students spend a week abroad to gain in-field exposure to international business challenges. 

The Flex MBA Online program is made up of online synchronous and asynchronous work. Synchronous work includes classes held either from 6:30 – 7:50 pm ET or 8:00 – 9:20 pm ET, with asynchronous work to complement learning. To graduate from the program, students need to complete 54 credit hours which include 31.5 credits of core courses and 22.5 credits of elective courses. Core courses are generally taken during the beginning of the program while most electives are taken towards the end. Some examples of core courses offered at Georgetown McDonough are Corporate Financial Reporting, Financial Analysis for Managers and Investors, and Leadership Communications. Taken as a core course, students also participate in a required Global Business Experience where students travel internationally during the summer and participate in a consulting project with a specific company. Elective courses cover areas in economics, operations, management, marketing, finance, and accounting. Additionally, students can take shorter Intensive Learning Experience elective courses, usually with a unique approach to learning such as working with a client. 

Of the 45 students enrolled in the 2023 Flex MBA Online program at Georgetown McDonough, 36 percent are female, 20 percent are underrepresented U.S minority students, and 31 percent are former or current U.S. military members. On average, Flex MBA students are 29 years old, have 4.25 years of work experience, and have an undergraduate GPA of 3.43. In terms of undergraduate majors, 27 percent studied business, 18 percent studied economics, 16 percent studied the humanities, 11 percent studied math/physical science, 9 percent studied engineering, and 7 percent were in government and international studies. 

In terms of career development, Flex MBA Online students can connect with the MBA Career Center at Georgetown McDonough for coaching, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, as well as navigating job offers, employer events, and job postings. 

The total cost of tuition at Georgetown McDonough’s Flex MBA Online program is $59,664. Merit scholarships are considered automatically for all applicants. In the recent 2023 Flex MBA Online class, 30 percent of students each received an average of $10,000 in scholarship funding. Students can apply for federal loans by completing the FAFSA form. In addition, Georgetown McDonough partners with scholarship groups such as Admit.me Access. Other scholarships available include the Modus Create Endowed MBA Scholarship, Reaching Out MBA Fellowship, the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, and funding through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Need-based financial aid is also available to fund an education at Georgetown McDonough. 

When applying to the Georgetown McDonough Flex MBA Online program, students are required to submit a valid or expired GMAT or GRE test score. Valid EA, LSAT, MCAT, and PCAT test scores are also accepted. Test waivers are available based on academic and professional requirements. International applicants who have not completed a bachelor’s or advanced degree program primarily in English are required to submit a test score to demonstrate English proficiency.
