Overview

The MIT Sloan Fellows program provides three one-year Masters degree options for experienced professionals: an MBA, an MS in Management and an MS in Technology. Located on MIT’s campus in Cambridge Massachusetts, the full time MIT Sloan Fellows programs are designed to allow mid-career professionals to gain the knowledge to improve performance in their current career, switch careers, or even start a new business. The Sloan Fellows programs are STEM designated.

For admission, MIT Sloan Fellows requires applicants to have at least ten years of work experience post college.  Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and resume, two video questions, essays, short answers, one recommendation letter and two professional references, an organization chart, transcripts, test scores and a $250 application fee.  Interviews are also offered by invitation only. The MIT Sloan Fellows program application deadlines are October 1, 2024 and January 27, 2025.

Curriculum

The MIT Sloan Fellows provides three different STEM designated degree options.  For example, Sloan Fellows can earn an MBA, a MS in Management or a MS in Technology.  Note:  while there is no thesis required for the MBA degree, there is a thesis requirement for both the MS in Management and the MS in Technology degrees.

Students begin the one-year MIT Sloan Fellows program in June with an in depth 360-degree leadership assessment as well as executive coaching sessions. In the summer term, students take foundation courses in economics, data, financial accounting, marketing, strategy, operations and organizational processes.  In both the fall and spring terms, students can customize their business education by taking electives and engaging in projects suited to their interest. For example, one of the ways that MIT Sloan Fellows can customize their learning is by completing up to two certificate programs. Certificate programs are offered for Analytics, Product Management, Enterprise Management, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Finance, Health Care and Sustainability. MIT Sloan Fellows program also offers a January (Winter) term in which students engage in experiential learning activities.

Careers and Class Profile

The MIT Sloan Fellows Career Development Office partners with MIT Sloan Fellow students, providing customized coaching and support throughout the job search process.

The MIT Sloan Fellows MBA Class of 2025 is made up of 103 students, with an average 15 years of work experience. Thirty-seven percent of the class are women, and 77 percent are international students, with 42 countries represented. Twenty nine percent of US domestic students are US students of color. Forty-seven percent of the class holds an advanced degree. The median Executive Assessment (EA) score for the class was 155. Prior to enrolling in the Sloan Fellows Program, 25% of the Class came from the financial services industry, followed by 19% from the Tech industry, 14% from Government, 9% from Consulting, and 8% each from the Energy industry and the Pharma, Healthcare and Biotech industry. Consulting, Finance, Technology and Manufacturing are the four most popular career paths post MBA.

Tuition, Scholarships and Financial Aid

The total tuition cost for the MIT Sloan Fellows MBA program is $152,280 for the 2024-25 academic year.

Regarding Financial Aid, all Sloan Fellow students are eligible for private student loans. To be eligible for federal financial aid programs, US applicants must submit a FAFSA. There are additional financial aid options for Sloan Fellows including Dean Fellowships, Forte Fellowships, AIM Scholarships, and Yellow Ribbon GI Enhancement Program for U.S. Veterans.

Admissions

The MIT Sloan Fellows MBA program is open to experienced professionals with a minimum ten years of work experience. Applicants must hold a four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
