Curriculum

The 54-credit curriculum at the Rice Jones Hybrid MBA program takes 22 months to complete and consists of virtual classes on Thursday evenings, in-person classes one weekend per month, and three week-long immersions. The first immersion is held in July on the Rice campus, consisting of in-person classes such as Competitive Strategy, Leadership and Teams, and Business Communications, as well as activities to connect students with other classmates. The second immersion is offered on-campus in June halfway through the program, consisting of in-person courses such as Organizational Behavior and Strategy Formulation. The final immersion is a Global Field Experience held at the end of the program. In this immersion, students conduct a consulting project with a local company or non-profit. Core courses offered as a mix of in-person and online learning formats include Organizational Behavior, Financial Accounting, and Managerial Economics. After taking core courses during the first year of the program, students take nine electives in the second year. Electives fall into multiple specializations, including Accounting, Energy, Finance, Marketing, and Real Estate.
