Program Overview

Stanford’s MSx program delivers a one-year Master of Science in Management for experienced professionals. Located on Stanford’s campus near Palo Alto, California, the full-time MSx program is designed to allow mid-career professionals to gain the knowledge to improve performance in their current career, switch careers, or even start a new business. In terms of admissions requirements, applicants are asked to submit personal information (including career aspirations, extracurricular activities, and awards), academic transcripts, a resume, a GMAT/GRE/EA test score, two essays, two letters of recommendation, and a $275 application fee. A minimum eight years of work experience is required for admission to the program. For international applicants, a TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE test score may also be required. The application deadlines to Stanford’s MSx program are October 15, 2024; January 8, 2025; and February 13, 2025. For those candidates applying to both the Stanford MBA and Stanford MSx programs, application deadlines are September 10, 2024 and January 8, 2025.

Curriculum

Students begin the one-year Stanford MSx program with a four-day MSx Orientation in June. Following the Orientation, students begin taking MSx core classes in Quarter One. In Quarter Two, students continue to take core courses while also beginning to take elective courses. The final two quarters are comprised of only elective courses. Other aspects of the Stanford MSx experience include clubs, executive coaching, and a speaker series. Students also have the opportunity to engage with their Center for Social Innovation and Center for Entrepreneurship.

Careers

Throughout the Stanford MSx program, students have access to career coaches, as well as leadership and academic advisors. These coaches and advisors support students in networking, preparing for interviews, and searching for jobs, as well as helping students build a clear career plan. The Stanford MSx Class of 2025 is made up of 76 students, with an average 12.5 years of work experience. Thirty-eight percent of the class are women, and 63 percent are international students, with 26 countries represented. Sixty-four percent of domestic students and US dual citizens are US students of color. In terms of undergraduate degree, 29 percent studied engineering, 25 percent studied business or commerce, 16 percent studied math or science, and 12 percent studied economics. 54 percent of the class holds an advanced degree, and 44 percent hold executive titles. The median GMAT score for the class was 720, the median GRE score was 166 quantitative and 162 verbal, and the median EA was 158.

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

The total tuition cost for the MSx program at Stanford GSB is $143,144. With additional costs such as housing, living expenses, medical insurance, and fees, the total cost of attendance is $205,102.

Stanford GSB meets the financial need of all students enrolled in the MSx program with fellowships and loans.

Admissions

The Stanford MSx program is open to experienced professionals with a minimum eight years of work experience. Applicants must hold a four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. The Stanford MSx program is STEM certified.
