Maryland Smith Online MBA

The Maryland Smith Online MBA program offers flexibility while providing the same academic rigor as offered in the Smith full-time MBA program. The Smith Online MBA program focuses on developing leadership abilities as well as communication and analytical skills. Smith’s Online MBA covers academic areas such as marketing, finance, supply chain management and information systems. In addition, the program has an academic focus on exploring the ethical and financial challenges that a company may face in the global marketplace.

The Maryland Smith Online MBA program consists of 54 credit hours, which can be completed in as few as 24 months. Foundation One and Foundation Two make up 24 credits each. As part of the electives offered in Foundation Two, students complete either a Global Study (four credits) or an International Business course (two credits). Over the course of the program, students also complete residency programs for two credits each: one Opening Residency and one Capstone Residency. The Smith Online MBA offers both a general MBA track, and four specializations: Finance, Information Systems and Business Analytics, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management

The Smith Online MBA class consists of 429 students. The typical student is 30 years old and has a 3.8 college GPA. 42.4 percent of the Class identify as female, and 39 percent are U.S. minority students.

Smith Online MBA graduates pursue careers in a number of business areas. The four most popular include General Management (27%), Finance and Accounting (18%), Marketing and Sales (15%) and Consulting (12%).

The Maryland Smith Online MBA tuition is $1,733 per credit hour. There are a total of 54 credit hours in the online MBA program with an estimated tuition of $93,582 for both in-state and out-of-state residents. In addition to the tuition, there is also a $75 application fee and a per semester $76.50 technology fee for 8 credits or less and $153 technology fee for 9 credits or more. A $750 non-refundable enrollment deposit that counts towards tuition payment is also needed.

Smith offers some students financial awards to pay for their education, including merit-based scholarships and the Double Terp Financial Award available to University of Maryland alumni. In addition, students working for specific organizations may have reduced tuition and fees. Students may also apply for federal loans using the FAFSA form. Current U.S. military members and veterans may also receive benefits through the Yellow Ribbon Program and waived application fees.

• Demonstrate quantitative skills through quantitative undergraduate/graduate coursework, professional experience, or high quantitative GMAT/GRE score (otherwise, students may be expected to take quantitative classes prior to starting at Smith)
• Optional GMAT/GRE scores
• TOEFL/IELTS scores (for international applicants if applicable)
