Overview

The Online MBA program offered at William and Mary’s Mason School of Business allows students the flexibility of an online format while also providing an in-person experience through a weekend residency. The program takes 24 months to complete and includes experiences such as solving complex and multi-solution problems in the Revolutionary Leader Practicum course. Students have an average of 9 years of prior work experience. Applicants are not required to submit GMAT or GRE test scores in order to be accepted into the program.

Curriculum

The William and Mary Online MBA program can be completed in two years, with three start dates per year. In the first year of the program, students take courses such as Renaissance Manager, Organizational Behavior, and Operations. Some courses taken in the second year include Finance, Integrated Technology, and Strategy. As part of the second year courseload, students take a four-credit Revolutionary Leader Practicum, in which they prepare and present a solution to a “wicked problem” in a business workshop. “Wicked problems” in the William and Mary Online MBA program are problems that are purposefully unclear with multiple solutions. These problems are strewn throughout the curriculum to develop problem solving skills for tackling business challenges in the real world. Additionally, students can complete an optional Foundations in Business Analytics Certificate by taking three specific courses.

Students enrolled in the William and Mary Online MBA program have an average 9 years of work experience, with an average undergraduate GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. 46 percent of the class is female, 33 percent of the class are US minorities and 18 percent have a background in the military

Careers

Following graduation from the William and Mary Online MBA program, over 70 percent of graduates self-reported an increased salary, with 50 percent of students reporting a 25 percent or greater increase in salary. Through the Graduate Career Management Center at William and Mary, students can take advantage of one-on-one career coaching, career classes, workshops, job search tools, and networking opportunities.

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

The total tuition cost for the William and Mary Online MBA program is $69,825, at $1,425 per credit hour. This does not include fees, such as a $600 residency fee and $150 graduation fee. Students should complete the FAFSA form to be eligible for federal financial aid. The Kyle J. Millikan Memorial Scholarship may be available for eligible veteran or active-duty military personnel.

Admissions

To be eligible for admission to the William and Mary Online MBA program, students must have at least two years of professional work experience and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited undergraduate institution or international equivalent. Students are not required to submit GMAT or GRE scores, but students may submit scores if desired. International applicants may be exempt from submitting English proficiency test scores if they have a degree from a US institution or have been employed consecutively for at least two years in a country with English as a primary language. Some applicants may be invited to interview as part of the admissions process. When applying to the William and Mary Online MBA program, applicants must submit:

  • TOEFL/IELTS test scores (if applicable for international applicants)
